Summary ： The present study was conducted in March 2007, to examine the present situation
of JOCV in service of environmental education in Costa Rica and El Salvador, in order to
recognize the problems JOCV are facing and to propose the possible support based on the experiences and resources of Japan. Types of materials and systems to support JOCV for environmental education are proposed. This study is a part of International Cooperation Initiative
Project planned and implemented by MEXT.

要旨：「国際教育拠点システム構築事業」は、EFA に向けた活動の枠組みの中で日本の文部
科学省が行う事業であり、国内の知見を活用して途上国の初等中等教育分野の取り組みを支える
ものである。当事業の一環として、日本から派遣される海外協力隊員の環境教育活動支援のあり
方を明らかにすることを目的に、コスタリカ・エルサルバドルの派遣隊員（JOCV）実態調査を
実施した。両国ともに、環境教育隊員が教育活動に従事しているが、隊員のための情報整備、言
語の障壁を低くするための視覚的な教材開発、地域を巻き込んだ実践的な教育活動を支援する必
要性が明らかになった。
