The first step of environmental education is to let children learn from their own field experience or facts about nature, so that they will be able to relate any matters in the surrounding nature and local community to their own lives.�@We conducted a basic study objecting Hirosegawa and Natorigawa rivers, which are urban rivers close to a large number of children.�@In addition to the field study of water quality, ion composition, river sand, microorganizm, riverside fauna and flora, human utilization of the river, and so on, we collected references related to those aspects.�@Using the result of the study, we aimed to develop programs of environmental education, by developing teaching materials and examining the applicability of the education through the internet.
